Abstract

The removal of presence of heavy metal ions in water is necessary in industrial and academic sectors since heavy metal pollutions can cause several ill-effects. A leaf extract from the Catharanthus roseus plant was used in the current investigation to synthesize Ag and CuO-NPs for the analysis of removal of heavy metals from the aqueous solution. Ag and CuO-NPs was tuned to increase yield by adjusting the salt content, leaf extract content, and time interval.  Ag and CuO-NPs were found using UV-Vis spectroscopy. The wavelength ranges for CuO and Ag-NPs, respectively, were 200-700 nm and 300-700 nm. Utilizing SEM scans, it was discovered that the shape of NPs was spherical and inside 100 nm. Additionally, Z-potential readings for Ag and CuO-NPs were -16.4 mV and - 6.18 mV, respectively. Ag-NPs were found to remove chromium and cadmium with the highest rates, at 47.84% and 5.68%, accordingly. The existing situation of metalloid contamination in water and soil ecosystems can be improved with the aid of our discoveries.
