Synthesis of Some Newer Azetidinonyl, & Thizolidinoyl Derivatives, And Their Anti-inflammatory Activity.

Synthesis of some 6-bromo-2-((2-(substitutedbenzylidene) hydrazinylmethyl)-3-(naphthalene-2-yl) quinazolin-4(3H)-ones (4a-4e), 6-bromo-3-(naphthalene-2-yl)-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro-quinazolin-2-yl) methyl amino)- 2-(substituted phenyl) thiazolidin-4-(3H)ones (5a-5e) and 6-bromo-2-((3-chloro-2-(substituted phenyl)-4-oxoazetidin-1-ylamino) methyl)-3-(naphthalene-2-yl) quinazolin4(3H)-ones (6a-6e) were synthesized and evaluated for anti-inflammatory activity against carrageenan induced oedema in albino rats at a dose of 50 mg/kg p.o. The structures of all these compounds were established on the basis of elemental and spectral. Moreover, the most potent compounds 5b and 6b have inhibition 44.62 and 58.40% inhibition of oedema at 50 mg/kg p.o.as compared to phenylbutazone.
