Abstract

Crowding in the maxillary anteriors is a very common esthetic dilemma which compromises patient’s confidence and social acceptance. These problems also lead to different intraoral dental issues like plaque accumulation and related diseases. Molar distalization is indicated as a possible treatment modality for Class II malocclusion and borderline cases. Whenever there is space deficiency, the techniques for creating space including extraction, arch expansion and interproximal stripping are utilized. Molar distalization can fulfill the requirement of space without the need for extraction. Various intraoral appliances were introduced for molar distalization without patient compliance. To obtain an effective and compliance-free molar distalization without an anchorage loss, a bone-anchored pendulum appliance (BAPA) has been used successfully by various clinicians since years. This case report presents the management of maxillary anterior crowding and related esthetics by utilizing fixed orthodontic mechanotherapy with molar Distalization using bone anchored pendulum appliance.
