Abstract

Around 357 valid responses were made randomly from hotels in and around Agra and Mathura Districts of Uttar Pradesh, India. To test the mediating impact of work stress on engagement of employees and work performance hierarchical Regression and Sobel test were administered. On the basis of analysis, it was being found that stress of occupation fully mediates the association between employee engagement and work performance. The employee engagement practices was found to have statistically significant influence on Work Performance of Employee associated with hospitality organization (F = 123.3952, P = 0.000; t=11.287, p=.000), but Sobel test indicated with the introduction of occupational stress  that p-values is less than 0.05 assuming a two-tailed z-test is greater than 1.96 and hence research hypothesis is accepted and concluded that employee occupational stress mediates the relationship between employee engagement and employee’s work performance of employees in hospitality sectors in Agra and Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh. This research study indicates that having knowledge about various factors of employee engagement will be helpful for management in creating healthy work environment with low level of occupational stress and high employee performance.
