Abstract

Background: If no remedial measures are taken, Patients with hypothyroidism may have the risk of developing cardiovascular disorders, dysrhythmia, depression, as well as negative effects on bone mass, lipid metabolism, blood pressure, and cognitive function. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was adopted to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practices among females in a district of Northern India named Moradabad. Participants for the study were recruited through convenience sampling method. Participants in the study had to be females 25 years or older, literate enough to grasp the questionnaire, and capable of responding to the questions. Demographics, knowledge, attitude, and practise domain questions were all used to evaluate the participants. Each of the three sections had ten factual statements to evaluate several hypothyroidism indicators, such as symptoms, risk factors, diagnoses, and treatments. Results: 30.76% of the female respondents were healthy, while 69.23% had hypothyroidism. According to the study, hypothyroidism is more common in women between the ages of 30 and 45, which is in line with other research. Equally, 24.90% of respondents strongly disagree that women are more likely to develop hypothyroidism and should have frequent thyroid function tests, while 71% of respondents concur. The results showed that Moradabad locals have a concerning lack of understanding regarding hypothyroidism. Conclusion: Better public education and awareness to improve the level of knowledge and treatment adherence for hypothyroidism is required in Dist. Moradabad.
