Abstract

A study to assess the quality of life in chronic kidney disease patients receiving hemodialysis admitted at selected hospitals of sangli-mirajkupwad corporation area. The study objectives to assess the level of quality of life among patients receiving haemodialysis and to find out the association between domains with selected demographic variables among patients receiving haemodialysis. Assumptions for the study is the quality of life of patients   receiving haemodialysis is assumed depending upon demographic variables. Patients who are on haemodialysis will be able to give the relevant information regarding quality of life.And the conceptual framework of the study was formed by a refined version of Wilson and Cleary’s model for health related quality of life [1995] Thepresent study was conducted by using a quantitative research approach with descriptive research design. In the present study the independent variable was quality of life. The study was conducted at selected hospitals of Sangli-MirajKupwad Corporation area. The samples were chronic kidney patients receiving haemodialysis of SangliMiraj-Kupwad Corporation area. Researcher considered the inclusion and exclusion criteria to select samples for the study. Sampling technique used for the study was convenience sampling technique.

The demographic proforma, structured quality of life questionnaires in English, Marathi script was prepared. During the preparation of the tool the following steps were adopted. The content validity of demographical variable, structured quality of life questionnaires and content was done by experts from the various fields. Validity of the tool was established by 31 experts out of whom 29 experts had given the tool back after validation. Experts established the validity of the tool through certification of the tool.

 The study result in this present study was the quality of life of majority patients receiving hemodialysis are having average quality of life and it is found that association between age and gender and quality of life domains are significantly associated.
